Background

Places where educational opportunities are not a given

In the areas surrounding Bodh Gaya, access to education is not sufficiently widespread. Together with our local partners, we have observed the following conditions:

Access to public educational institutions is limited, or there are few opportunities to receive a high-quality education.
Depending on a family’s financial situation, there are cases where children have no choice but to work.
Opportunities for girls’ education are particularly likely to be restricted.
There is a shortage of educational materials, school supplies, and safe learning environments themselves.

How We Use Your Donations

Establishment of a Terakoya

Construction and renovation of learning spaces; purchase of furniture and equipment such as desks and chairs.

Everything you need for learning, such as textbooks, notebooks, and writing supplies.

By ensuring access to safe water, we can transform the time children previously spent fetching water into time for learning.

A System in Which Business Supports Education

Create a “cycle of self-reliance” in which local talent generates income through business and reinvests those profits in education.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Since HAL is a general incorporated foundation that has not been certified as a public interest corporation, donations to HAL are not currently eligible for tax deductions. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Will a receipt be issued?

We will issue a receipt upon request. Please contact us using the contact information provided after your payment is complete.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

You can enter any amount you wish on the payment page.

Can I cancel or get a refund after making a donation?

We are unable to issue refunds for donations, regardless of the reason. We appreciate your understanding before making a donation.

How is this different from supporting us on CAMPFIRE?

Crowdfunding on CAMPFIRE refers to past, specific campaigns. This page is operated on the Foundation’s website as an ongoing fundraising effort to establish the Terakoya.
